Graduate Students

  • Ford Foundation Fellowship Program
    • Through its program of fellowships, the Ford Foundation seeks to increase the diversity of the nation’s college and university faculties by increasing their ethnic and racial diversity, to maximize the educational benefits of diversity, and to increase the number of professors who can and will use diversity as a resource for enriching the education of all students.
  • Gilliam Fellowships for Advanced Study
    • The Gilliam Fellowships for Advanced Study provide full support for up to five years of study toward a Ph.D. for outstanding students who are from groups underrepresented in the sciences or from disadvantaged backgrounds. Gilliam fellows attend the university of their choice and work alongside distinguished scientists. Chosen for their academic excellence and scientific potential, they will become the leaders of a new generation of biomedical researchers.

  • SREB-State Doctoral Scholars Program
    • The Pew Charitable Trusts and the Ford Foundation, the program offers financial support and other services to doctoral scholars nationwide. SREB also hosts the annual Institute on Teaching and Mentoring, the largest gathering of minority doctoral scholars in the country. The Doctoral Award offers three years of direct program support and two years of institutional support from the scholar's college, university and/or department, in the form of an annual stipend.
  • Health Services Research
    • The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) supports training opportunities to help individuals prepare for a career in health services research. AHRQ is particularly interested in fostering the professional development of minority health services researchers.
  • ASA Minority Fellowship Program
    • Minority Fellowship Program applicants can be new or continuing graduate students. However, the MFP is primarily designed for minority students entering a doctoral program in sociology for the first time or for those who are in the early stages of their graduate programs. MFP applicants must be applying to or enrolled in sociology departments which have strong mental health research programs and/or faculty who are currently engaged in research focusing on mental health issues.
  • Lagrant Foundation Scholarships
    • The Lagrant Foundation annually provides 15 scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students who are attending accredited institutions and are pursuing careers in the fields of advertising, marketing or public relations.

  • Co-op/Internship Opportunities

  • American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS)
    • AAAS has developed unique partnerships with IBM, NASA, Merck, Google, Lockheed Martin, CVS, NAVAIR, Pfizer, Infosys, Shell, Procter & Gamble and university science laboratories to meet their human resources needs. Working with its partners, AAAS identifies and screens undergraduate and graduate students with disabilities who are pursuing degrees in science, engineering, mathematics, computer science, and some fields of business, and places them in paid summer internships.

Fellowships

  • Summer Undergraduate Fellowships in Genetics (SUNFIG)
    • Students interested in genetics and genomics research will be matched with a faculty member in the Department of Genetics and be integrated into a lab as a member of a research team.  Students will participate in the complete research cycle from project design to analysis and presentation.  Participants also received training in bioethics and mentoring in professional development.  At the end of the nine weeks, students will present their work at a poster session.  Each participant selected will received a stipend and food allowance of $6,750. The program will also provide on-campus housing and cover travel up to $500.

  • Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunities (CURO)
    • As part of the Honors Program at the University of Georgia, the Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunities (CURO) promotes opportunities for undergraduate students to engage in research with premier research faculty.
  • Future Scholars Visitation Program
    • Fully supported Fall term visitation program for Senior undergraduates from historically underrepresented backgrounds who are interested in Graduate School at UGA.
  • Engineering Student Services (ESS)
    • The College of Engineering has built comprehensive programs to broaden participation in engineering among students from underrepresented backgrounds. We recruit and retain a diverse range of outstanding engineers by offering unparalleled opportunities for mentoring, research, and experiential learning. Through the Engineering Student Services (ESS), we offer four specific programs.
  • The Gates Millennium Scholar Program
    • GMS will select 1,000 talented students to receive our good through graduation scholarship to use at any college or university of their choice. Our program is more than a scholarship—it’s an opportunity! We provide our Gates Millennium Scholars with personal and professional development through our leadership programs along with academic support through their college career. Eligible if African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American.
  • MED Program 
    • The Medical Education Development (MED) Program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill was established in 1974 and is designed to increase opportunities in the health professions for individuals who demonstrate educational promise and commitment to a health career but who have lacked the opportunity in the past in moving toward their professional goals
  • National Institutes of Health (NIH) Undergraduate Scholarship Program (UGSP)
    • The NIH Undergraduate Scholarship Program offers competitive scholarships to students from disadvantaged backgrounds who are committed to careers in biomedical, behavioral, and social science health-related research. The NIH UGSP will pay up to $20,000 per academic year in tuition, educational expenses, and reasonable living expenses to scholarship recipients. Scholarships are awarded for one year, and can be renewed up to four years.
  • UNCF Merck Science Initiative
    • The UNCF/Merck Science Initiative (UMSI) provides undergraduate, graduate and post-doctoral support to outstanding African-American students who are pursuing studies and research careers in biological and chemical sciences.

  • 200 Free Scholarships For Minorities
    • Created by Black Excel. Lists of 200 scholarships available. Many based on Financial need.
  • Minority Study Abroad Scholarships
    • Diversity Abroad, in cooperation with the AIFS Foundation, will offer twenty, $1,000 scholarships for spring, summer and fall study abroad. Six scholarship are available for the fall, six for the spring and eight for the summer. Scholarships are only available for students studying, interning or volunteering abroad for credit on programs offered by a DiversityAbroad.com partner organization.
  • Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program
    • The Gilman Scholarship Program offers awards for undergraduate study abroad and was established by the International Academic Opportunity Act of 2000. This scholarship provides awards for U.S. undergraduate students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at a two-year or four-year college or university to participate in study abroad programs worldwide.
  • Keystone Symposia
    • Keystone Symposia offers scholarships to Students and Postdoctoral fellows in the life sciences from underrepresented backgrounds. These scholarships, of up to $1,200 each, are to be used to help defray the expenses associated with conference attendance, including airfare (restrictions may apply based on funding source), ground transportation, lodging, and a portion of the registration. Receipts will be required to receive reimbursement.
