Wolf named director of the Franklin Residential College

The Franklin College of Arts and Sciences has named Montgomery Wolf as the new director of the Franklin Residential College (FRC), UGA's oldest living learning community. Wolf, Principal Lecturer of American History in the UGA department of history, succeeds Benjamin Ehlers as director of the FRC.

Established in 2000, the Franklin Residential College is a collaborative partnership among the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, the Office of Instruction, and University Housing. The purpose of the FRC is to infuse the intellectual excitement of the arts and sciences at UGA into the residential life of the program participants residing in Rutherford Hall. 

Home to approximately 100 UGA students from a variety of majors, student residents in the FRC participate in a yearlong roster of activities including service projects, academic events, social gatherings, and an annual trip to Sapelo Island each fall. First-year students generally take one of three First Year Odyssey courses, taught in the residence hall and each utilizing the Reacting to the Past pedagogy. Franklin College advisor Danielle Bostick lives in the dorm with the students. 

"I am honored to begin my position as director of the Franklin Residential College this fall," Wolf said. "I'm excited to work with students who put liberal arts at the center of their education, and I look forward to getting to know students through education inside and outside the classroom.

Wolf received a UGA Creative Teaching Award in 2015 and a Fulbright Scholar Program Core Award for 2013-2014. She serves as director of a UGA study abroad program in Tanzania.
