Lady Bulldogs excel across multiple sports

It's Spring Break for most students but women athletes on campus, with many Franklin majors among them, are leading their NCAA teams and distinguishing the university at the highest levels:

Georgia senior shortstop [and mathematics major] Alyssa DiCarlo broke the Georgia women's softball all-time home runs record (58) in Sunday's 6-0 win over Western Illinois.

The Georgia GymDogs secured a first-place finish at Elevate the Stage in Birmingham, Alabama, on Friday night with a score of 197.350.

The GymDogs defeated No. 10 Minnesota, No. 20 Arkansas and Michigan State.

Senior Sydney Snead and junior [biology Pre-med major] Sabrina Vega led the GymDogs on the beam, each receiving a 9.9. 

The Georgia track and field teams brought home a pair of titles along with a brand new school record from the SEC indoor championships this weekend in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

The 23rd ranked Lady Bulldogs surprised with a seventh-place finish and 49 points scored. 

The women’s 4x400 relay team finished fifth overall, clocking in at 3:31.97. The relay consisted of Micaiah Ransby, [freshman biology major] Sterling Lester, Amber Tanner, and Lynna Irby. With their time, the Lady Bulldogs' 4x400 relay solidified their spot at NCAAs.

The Georgia women’s tennis team defeated Texas A&M 4-0 on Sunday afternoon in Athens and moved to 3-0 in the SEC.

Congratulations to all of our student-athletes. Full-time students competing as athletes at the highest levels fulfill responsibilities that amaze us as we watch them become leaders on and off the fields of play.
