18 UGA students, alumni receive Fulbright offers

The University of Georgia once again hit double digits in the number of international travel-study grants offered to its students and recent alumni through the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. With 18 students selected, this marks the fifth straight year—and ninth time in the past 10 years—that UGA has received 10 or more offers. Of the 15 students and alumni who will be able to participate, four of the six academic and arts grants went to Franklin College students and alumni, and as well as five of the nine who received teaching assistantship awards:

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers research, study and teaching opportunities in more than 140 countries to recent college graduates and graduate students. As the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, it is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the U.S. and countries worldwide.

We are always proud of our Fulbright students and UGA has solidly become a pipeline for international research and teaching endeavors by undergraduates, graduate students and recent alumni. The level of engagement by departments and programs abroad normalizes international collaborations and opportunities. Exceptional students, often drawn to UGA by its atmosphere of discovery and global connections, bring the possibilities to life by pursuing ideas and experiences abroad that continue enrich our campus in every way.
