Film Screen: Died Without Issue

A screening of DIED WITHOUT ISSUE in support of the Cornelia Walker Bailey Program on Land and Agriculture.

This documentary chronicles the exploits of a French royalist who fled the French Revolution and came to Sapelo Island, Georgia, where he enslaved the local Gullah Geechee population, bankrupted his business, and murdered a rival. His descendant, the film’s writer and co-director Rachel Price, mines her past for a way to leave something behind that will benefit the island and the residents of Hogg Hummock, the largest and most intact Gullah Geechee community left in the U.S.

Admission is free, but registration is required. Donations are encouraged and will be matched up to $25,000 by a private donor.
