event flyer
Virtual Event

The summer poetry series "Seat in the Shade" kicks off in poetry month with a slate of local writers that include Athens first named poet laureate. The first Athens Cultural Affairs Commission (ACAC) Poet Laureate will be announced on April 27, 2021, at the live, webinar reading. The selected poet laureate must be an Athens Clarke County resident who will serve for a two-year term.

This event is part of the "Something More Pleasant" series of events connecting Athens readers to Roz Chast's book, Can't We Talk about Something More Pleasant? This series is funded by the NEA Big Read, a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest
