Guest Artist Recital: Vladislav Vals

Noted saxophonist Vladislav Vals will perform a guest artist recital. Vals is professor of saxophone at the Gnessin Institute of Music in Moscow and has toured in Russia, England, the U.S. and many European countries.

Noted saxophonist Vladislav Vals performs a guest artist recital at the UGA Hugh Hodgson School of Music in Ramsey Concert Hall on Wednesday, Feb. 3, at 6 p.m. 

Vals, the official artist of Yamaha music in Russia, will perform a program spanning a wide array of saxophone repertoire that Wednesday night. Following the performance in Ramsey Hall, Vals will host a master class in Edge Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public.

Vals is professor of classical saxophone at the Gnessin Institute of Music in Moscow. Educated in England and France, Vals has played all across his native Russia as part of jazz ensembles, as a solo artist and as part of numerous symphony orchestras. He has toured in Austria, France, Great Britain, Italy and the US. 

His position with the Gnessin Institute is what brings him to UGA—his visit is part of an exchange program between the School of Music and Gnessin Institute, which, last spring, sent Connie Frigo, associate professor of saxophone, and her students to Moscow.
