"How Looking Sideways Can Expand Your View of the World," Rose George, an award-winning author.

George is an author and journalist. Her journalism has appeared in the "Guardian," "New York Times," "London Review of Books" and many others, and her assignments have included reporting on Saddam Hussein’s birthday party, on beauty salons in Afghanistan just after the fall of the Taliban in 2002 and on an alternative soccer final between the world’s lowest-ranking countries, Bhutan and Montserrat.

Her first book, "A Life Removed: Hunting for Refuge in the Modern World," explored the reality of life on the run for the millions of people displaced by Liberia's civil wars. Her second book was "The Big Necessity: The Unmentionable World of Human Waste and Why it Matters," on how the world deals—or doesn’t deal—with sanitation. It was voted a book of the year by the American Library Association.

Her latest book is "Ninety Percent of Everything: Inside Shipping, the Invisible Industry That Puts Clothes on Your Back, Gas in Your Car, and Food on Your Plate." "Ninety Percent" was a book of the week on BBC Radio 4 and winner of the British Maritime Foundation’s Mountbatten Literature Award.
